Delusional Downtown Divas
I'm a sucker for improv comedy; Spinal Tap, Best in Show and Curb Your Enthusiasm are some of my fave comedies. Humor for me is largely about awkwardness, and improv just oozes it. Delusional Downtown Divas is a new web series on Index Magazine's recently relaunched website. It follows three young artists trying to make it in the Big Apple. It's like MTV's the City, but for "avantgarde, asymmetrical" art hispters. Like all improv comedies, it starts a little slow but you gotta keep your ear tuned for some comedy gems. There are 5 episodes out so far. My favorite moment so far is episode 4 when a cab driver explains art (Museum of Natural History dinosaurs?) and the meaning of life to the show's main character, Agness (pronounced Agnèz to sound French).
Episode 1 after the jump.

Wesh Wesh Cousin!
Arab people are to France what black people are to the US. But black people are also to France what black people are to the States. Instead of baggy jeans, French thugs (la racaille) wear Sergio Taccini jump suits with their pant legs tucked into their socks and tight Lacoste caps. Even Euro thugs are stylish. Before electro music and Ed Banger, DJ Mehdi was the DJ and producer of uber popular French rap group 113 (kinda like Mix Master Mike was to the Beastie Boys). Time to kick it old school...
